Peri-orbital tumours.

چکیده

I FULLY realize the honour the Institute of Ophthalmology has paid me in asking me to give this address to-day. I wondered how a general surgeon could interest listeners who have devoted so much of their time to the study of ophthalmology. Many years ago I was ophthalmic house surgeon to Mr. Cargill and Mr. Lyle, and it was during that time that I first became interested in peri-orbital tumours, a subject which still is full of curiosity as far as I am concerned, and is one which embraces a wide field of pathology, coming within the spheres of the ophthalmologist, general surgeon, neurosurgeon, and dermatologist. The commonest types of tumour around the eye are those which occur in the skin or subcutaneous tissues. The basal and squamous-cell carcinomata need little introduction, being well known by reason of their frequency, and differing pathologically in no respect from those occurring elsewhere.

Physiological and lifestyle factors contributing to risk and severity of peri-orbital dark circles in the Brazilian population*

It is of interest to better understand lifestyle and demographic risk factors and the relative impact of melanin, blood and epidermal/dermal factors on the se...

The Cranio-orbital Surgical Approach for Tumours of the Orbit and Anterior Skull Base

The cranio-orbital approaches have been successfully employed for resection of tumours involving the orbit and anterior skull base. With modifications of the cranio-orbital bone flap (changing the position and size of the flap), incorporation of posterior orbitotomy or zygomatic osteotomy, the cranio-orbital approaches can be specifically tailored to optimize the access to tumours located in a ...

Orbital Benign Haemangio-endotheliomata.

ORBITAL HAEMANGIO-ENDOTHELIOMATA, tumours of angioblastic endothelium, are very rare. Birch-Hirschfeld (1930) and Peters (1931) questioned their occurrence, but they have been described by Adson and Benedict (1934), Rottgen (1950), and other authors. In a series of 222 intra-orbital tumours, Forrest (1949) found one angio-endothelioma, and Iliff (1957) found three cases in a series of 88 primar...

Methods: Patients with MTLE, who underwent video-EEG monitoring with simultaneous peri-orbital and sphenoidal electrodes and obtained good outcome following standard anterior temp...
